Professional Fire and EMS Training

Fire Academy

At Agate Fire Protection District, we are dedicated to training and retaining professional firefighters. Our hands-on training program is designed to equip our team with the necessary skills and knowledge to respond effectively to emergencies.

The fire academy is a crucial step for aspiring firefighters. It is where recruits learn the basic skills and knowledge of the craft, as well as become familiar with the physical and mental demands and the rewards of the fire service.

Our academy is usually held annually, starting in the winter months and ending in early spring. Recruits attend the academy one evening per week and all day on Saturdays. The primary focus of the academy is to master the skills needed to complete the program and become a certified firefighter.

Although the academy presents challenges, recruits gain valuable skills, a sense of accomplishment, and often form lifelong friendships. Earning your place among our ranks won’t be easy, but it will be worth it!

We will be registering soon for our next fire academy - Stay tuned.

EMS Training

Our EMS training programs are conducted by highly trained and experienced personnel with proven student success rates. We are committed to providing students with the latest techniques, advanced protocols, and hands-on experience to prepare them to deliver high-quality emergency medical care in the communities they serve.

This Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) course is designed for currently certified EMTs who are looking to advance their knowledge and skills in emergency medicine. The course includes classroom instruction, advanced hands-on skills labs, clinical experiences, and field training designed to prepare students to provide Advanced Life Support (ALS) care in both medical and trauma emergencies. Students will gain experience in advanced airway management, IV therapy, medication administration, cardiac care, and patient assessment.

Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will be eligible to apply for the National Registry Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (NRAEMT) certification exam and pursue Colorado AEMT certification.

Certifications/Certificates Received Upon Completion of Program:

  • Advanced Emergency Medical Technician Course Completion Certificate
  • National Registry Advanced Emergency Medical Technician Certification*
